What We Do

The Boreal Avian Research & Conservation Association (BARCA) protects the environment, with a special emphasis on avian research and conservation within western Canada’s Boreal forest. We believe that nature is our most valuable asset, and we aim to foster the interest and passion for birds and nature by providing opportunities for participating in research, conservation, and education projects. We collaborate with academic institutions, industrial, government and non-governmental organizations to provide science-based information for the purpose of enhancing management and conservation of birds in the northern regions. We develop enduring partnerships with local communities and various stakeholders to elaborate monitoring and conservation plans, and educate the public.

BARCA was established in 2021 and is a registered non-profit organization under the Province of Alberta Societies Act.
