The Boreal Avian Research & Conservation Association (BARCA) is excited to announce it has entered into a partnership with Capital Power that will support our action to protect and preserve birds and their environment. Capital Power’s three-year commitment will enable BARCA to continue its research and conservation activities focused on cavity nesting birds of prey and songbirds within Capital Power’s Genesee Generating Station’s footprint located west of Edmonton.
BARCA has also joined The Peregrine Fund’s American Kestrel Partnership in order to contribute to the better understanding of the biology and ecology of the American kestrel (Falco sparverius). This partnership is a network of more than 70 community & professional scientists from North America, acting in their own capacity, working to collaboratively understand kestrel demographics and advance kestrel conservation. BARCA will be providing data from our kestrel nest boxes in Alberta while accessing all of the information provided by this partnership.
